More Mayan Calendar Swap Additions!

I must say this has been one of my favorite swaps and I must THANK our hostess Deb to the 100th degree! I have not spent enough time studying Guatemala history and the Mayan culture so I am thrilled to have this mini crash course from Deb about the calendar. Here are the latest additions from that swap.

Squishes #59 and 60 are from the McClain Family in Rogers, Arkansas. They sent Turtle and Water fabrics with proverbs from Guatemala - very cool!

Squishes #61 - 67 are from Deb in Cincinnati, OH. She sent the following treasures:

  • The 4 zodiac signs: House, Rabbit, Reed and Flint. The Reed fabric represents the year Dominic was born and she sent along an information sheet describing how the Maya Indians marked time.
  • Bat fabric and hand written wish about "always finding your way home".
  • Snake fabric with a description of what snakes meant in the Mayan culture and a wish for a life of "joy and happiness".
  • Eagle fabric with wish about soaring and never growing weary.

Sweet Friend

My dear new friend Terri sent me a bundle of amazing squishes for Dominic's quilt! I was Terri's Secret Pal the last few months for our China Adoption Tea Monkey Yahoo Group. I am so touched by these very generous additions and can only say this is but a glimpse into the kind, gentle and loving personality of this lovely woman! Many, many thanks!

Squishes # 55, 56, 57 and 58 from the Ballard Family in Cumming, Georgia feature:
  • Winnie the Pooh fabric and matching quote about not being shy
  • Nemo fabric and quote about "A family is FOREVER"
  • Fire truck fabric and wish for a "life filled with many blessing"
  • Sparkly stars fabric and VERY special wish with the fabric cut and shaped into a sailboat AND a beautiful quote from the Bible:

"The Lord bless you and keep you;

the Lord make His face shine upon you

and be gracious to you;

the Lord turn His face toward you

and give you peace." Numbers 6:24-26
